These American Gangster remix albums just keep getting better and better. I’ve been playing the latest remixes by The Knocks and DJ Soul Clap all night and I wasn’t sure it could get any better. Boy was I wrong!
This one comes from Rob Viktum, who hails from Dallas Texas. Rob’s remix project, named American DonutShop, it just completely amazing. His idea was to pay homage to the great J. Dilla and mix American Gangster with Dilla’s Donuts. But Rob did one better. He didn’t just lay Jay’s vocals over Dilla beats. He went one step further and chopped his own beats by flipping the samples that Dilla used for Donuts! Rob totally makes this record his own. You all definitely have to check this one out!
This may be one of the best remixes of American Gangster yet, but it won’t be the last. DJ Skee should be dropping his remixes later this week and I hear 9th Wonder is working on his own American Gangster. Can’t wait for those!
