There’s an excellent new interview with Jay-Z at Best Life Online, spotted via RealTalkNY.  Jay talks about how he made a brand out of himself and how he got to where he is today. A great read for anybody looking to “make it”. Hit the jump for Jay’s six-point “best life” diagnostic…

As a product of some of NY’s finest private schools, Jay is a constant reminder of why the public school system in this country is an egregiously failed experiment that is borderline criminal in its neglect.

Integration was never the answer – it was always about equality. Equality would have given him an opportunity to probably be more than he is now…but then its the trials & tribulations of Marcy that made him Jigga – damned if you do & damned if you don’t.

    Thanks for the share.

Jigsaw I don’t get your point.

It’s common sense what Jay is saying, but then “sense,” I guess, isn’t always “common.” The points are concise, make sense and are not full of cumbersome pyscho-jargon!!! Thanks

JAYS BOY TY-TY SAID IT BEST..JAY DIDNT HUSTLE TO GET JORDANS OR PLAY $ HE DID IT TO NOT LET HIS SITUATION DICTATE HIS QUALITY OF LIFE ..HE NEEDED $ TO HAVE CONTROLL OF HIS OPTIONS AND ONCE HE HAD ENOUGH TO GO LEGIT OR AT LEAST ATTEMPT TO OFF HIS OWN DIME ( AND BIGGS ..NO NOT BIGGIE ..BIGGS) HE CHANGED HUSTLES..AND WHAT HIS BOY SAID ITS THE PERSON YOU ARE THAT PLAYS THE BIGGEST ROLE IN HOW YOU TURN OUT..IF JAY WAS BORN IN THE BURBS HE’D BE A CEO OR COMPANY PREZ WITH A COLLEGE DEGREE..HE WAS WHERE HE WAS SO HE LEARNED THE HUSTLE..BECAME “CEO” IN A WAY AND NOW FUNNY ENOUGH IS A COMPANY PREZ ANYWAY ! BUT JUST LIKE HE SAYS ABOVE YOU CONTROLL WHAT YOU CAN AND DO IT 100% THEN YOU CANT REGRET ANYTHING ..BUT IF YOU DONT CONTROLL WHAT YOU CAN THEN THATS A FAILURE ON YOUR PART ..WICH WILL ALSO PROBABLY GET WORSE WHEN SOMETHING YOU COULDNT CONTROL GOES WRONG….REASONABLE DOUBT ..DONT LISTEN TO IT .HEAR WHAT HE IS SAYING ..ITS ALL THERE ..
    PEACE N LOVE

Had a dream last night that I was at my own wake looking down at my own face
I looked asleep but not at peace
Aggrieved and not at all relieved
Do I blame it on the streets or my constant war with the Beast
Or was it simply all on ME for not pursuing all that I could perceive, while I could still breathe
It seems my whole life was consumed with running from what I assumed was ANOTHER nigga chasing me
But in the e-n-d, as I stood there looking down at myself, it appears that the most unrelenting “enemy”
    Was me

    What’s holding you back?!?
