Mama Said Knock You Out Remix Project: Week 4

Week 4, here we are! Time to remix “Mr. Good Bar,” the fourth track off Mama Said Knock You Out. “Mr. Good Bar” samples All The People’s “Cramp Your Style,” James Brown’s “Get Up, Get Into It, Get Involved,” and ESG’s “UFO.” You will only be required to sample “Cramp Your Style,” but feel free to use whatever else you like. Remember, there are no acapellas in this contest. Beats only, and then we’ll get some emcees to rap over them. Hit the jump for the complete rules for the contest and the links to the samples you will need for your beat. Final remixes are due next Sunday, February 7th @ 3:00pm Eastern Standard Time. Good luck! Read More »

Artist Spotlight: Dumbfoundead

I just recently caught on to LA emcee Dumbfoundead through the collaboration he did with the homie Wax on “Hollyhoodrats.” After hearing his “Jam Session 2.0″ with other musicians across the web, I quickly became a fan and checked out some of his work on his Bandcamp page. We chopped it up a bit with Dumbfoundead last week. Hit the jump to see what went down, but definitely check out dude’s YouTube page to really see the talent. Read More »

Hell Razah: Untitled Song Off Heaven Razah (Radio Rip)

Somehow somebody got their hands on an unmastered track off Hell Razah’s highly anticipated album Heaven Razah and recently played it on the radio. Razah gave the ok to spread the track around and post it up on the site. Even though the quality is obviously not CDQ, the track is still dope. Razah rips at usual on a beat that has vibe similar to his MF DOOM produced “Project Jazz” off Renaissance Child. Props to D. Offbeat for the original rip & link. Read More »

Ace Spectrum: Trust Me

I wasn’t able to find much information about Ace Spectrum other than they released three albums (Inner Spectrum, Low Rent Rendezvous, and Just Like in The Movies) from 1974 to 1976.  “Trust Me” is one of many jams found on their 1975 album, Low Rent Rendezvous.  If anyone has additional information regarding the group leave them in  the comments. Link after the cut. Read More »
