The Roots: How I Got Over (Cover & Tracklisting)

Def Jam released the tracklist for The Roots long delayed album How I Got Over which is now set to drop June 22nd. Interesting notes from the tracklisting — there’s only 9 songs and both Phonte & Blu appear on two tracks. The cover artwork (above) recently hit the net as well.     I really hope these are the best of the best tracks selected for the album. Standard 9 songs is like half an hour of music, I’d prefer something a little longer.

    They said they had been recording hundreds of “great songs” during their time with the Fallon show and we only get to hear nine?!?!?!

    If The Roots only have nine songs….best believe they are the best nine songs they have to put on an album. The Roots do not disappoint. Cannot wait for this.

    im actually very happy its 9 tracks ..most likely theyre all gonna be great…im really looking forward to this now

    If they’re all high quality, it should be good. I doubt they’re gonna do like Meth/Rae/Ghost and have multiple tracks under 3 minutes. The Roots released the Dilla Joints for free and then right after this album have a project with John Legend (probably why he’s on two tracks here) so they got a lot for us in one year.

    I’m so excited for this release, and I’m sure there will be bonus cuts or hidden tracks as well. Who says it’s going to be half an hour? I wouldn’t be surprised if the tracks aren’t quick 3 minute ones, and if it’s dope – it’s dope regardless of time.
