Sad news to pass along as Walter McCallon, better known as Tre-8, reportedly died in a car accident last night. The New Orleans emcee/producer was one of the first artists to release an album on No Limit after Master P signed a distribution deal with Priority Records. Tre-8 only released one album, 1995′s Ghetto Stories, on No Limit Records before leaving the label. Over his career, the skilled emcee & producer worked with many New Orleans artists such as Ice Mike, Joe Blakk, Tim Smooth & Code 6 and appeared on Scarface’s My Homies compilation. In recent memory, he released a new solo LP in 2008 called The Most Underrated and started a new group called Dem Haze Boyz. Tre-8 was not only a talent on the mic but also behind the boards, he will be truly be missed. Our thoughts go out to the McCallon family and his friends in this tough time. If you’re unfamiliar with his work, hit the jump to check out some memorable tracks. Rest In Peace Tre-8.
