I was introduced to DC based singer Teisha Marie from her amazing debut album Addicted To Life while working music retail back in 2008. After which she seemed to fall into obscurity sans post on her personal facebook page. Working a day job as a teacher, it took years to fund her new album but nevertheless, she made it and she’s back. The Girl From Nowhere is her amazing follow up and it is even deeper, funkier and more personal than ever. Groove ranging between synth laden electrofunk, smooth 2-steppers and just straight up soul with lyrics so heartfelt that seem to be from her most personal diary. The album feature guest appearances and production from Deborah Bond, Kenny Wesley, Ahmed Sirour, Anton Genius and more. Well worth the purchase.
