KN Exclusive: Willie Neal – Rollin [Single]

Willie Neal is a talented singer/producer from Chicago’s West Side. Along with his brother J Neal, Jig Dolla, Z Money, and a few other notables, he’s spearheaded a resurgence in West Side Chicago rap that’s been impacting heavily online and in the city of Chicago. Mr. Neal’s last project Russian Drums led to some of the music industries gatekeepers tabbing him as one of the up and coming artists to watch for in R & B. On this Soulful Sunday exclusive Mr. Neal delivers a smooth self produced ode to the joy of movement. Of course that being from the inside of an automobile of foreign manufacture with a pretty young lady in tow. Taken from the forthcoming album Dripped Up 6, coming soon. Read More »

With a career that spans nearly 30 years, Sade has earned her spot in the soul hall of fame. Sure, many artists in the past have remixed and sampled her work, but none of those projects are as ambitious as Son of Sade: An Ode FreEP. Brought to you by by the Montreal-based beatsmith, Teck-Zilla, this near 20 minute jam blends the work of the singer with Teck’s boom bap production savvy. What’s interesting to note is that like Sade, Teck was born in Nigeria and spent time living in London, so it’s no surprise that both of these artists’ sounds can pair so well together. Nikkiya: sheBLACKOUT

nikkiya-sheblackout (1)

After the huge success of her last project SpeakHer, South Carolina singer/songwriter Nikkiya took some time out to focus on penning tracks for other artists as well as working on her newest musical offering. Fast forward to 2014, and Nikkiya is back with brand new mixtape sheBLACKOUT as well as a deal with Warner/Chappell. Nikkiya brings her trademark “down-to-earth point of view” to sheBLACKOUT but this time with a slightly darker ambience, chronicling her highs and lows over the past year. Nikkiya (who has worked with some notable names in the past including hip hop legend MC Lyte and Tech N9ne) has her sights firmly set on a promising future as a formidable songwriter. sheBLACKOUT displays the songwriter’s innate ability to capture everyday, relatable experiences in a melodiously illustrious way. sheBLACKOUT is 17 track project consisting of beautiful lyrics and harmonious vocals transported through deeply stirring accapella’s and freestyles.
