Magnif: The Shining PT.2 [prod by J Dilla]

In 2003, with his group Lawless Element, Detroit MC/Producer Magnif released The Shining produced by J Dilla. Almost 10 years after his last official release, he returns with an exclusive unheard J Dilla produced banger The Shining Pt. 2.” The Shining (Pt. 1) was a 12 single released in 2003 where Dilla created a tailor-made beat and laid down the scratches on the track. The group went on to work with Dilla again in 2004 on the Magnif-produced track Love, where Dilla lent his last recorded guest appearance. With plans for future work, Dilla gave Magnif batches of exclusive instrumentals, which is where the beat for The Shining Pt. 2 comes from. In 2014 Magnif has a new focus and new material. J Dilla: Filth [Previously Unreleased], today, premiered a previously unreleased J Dilla track off the upcoming The King Of Beats (Ma Dukes Yancey Collector’s Edition Box Set). The King of Beats (Ma Dukes Yancey Collector’s Edition) Box Set feature’s 40 tracks from Jay Dee’s groundbreaking ‘Batches’ on vinyl and is manufactured in the image and likeness of the exact SP-1200 which produced Jay Dee’s signature sound. The E-Mu Systems SP-1200 drum machine and sampler was the first electronic instrument Jay Dee worked with while crafting the incomparable styles and sounds which defined the early stages of his legendary production. The SP-1200 was his primary tool of choice at the inception of his career. During this period, he created classics for early Slum Village, The Pharcyde, A Tribe Called Quest, Busta Rhymes, among many others. After careful study and curation this one of a kind collection compiles the well-deserved documentation of Jay Dee’s early musical masterpieces. Ma Dukes assembled a team of family and industry professionals who spent nine months working daily to bring this project to J Dilla fans everywhere.
